Marvin Lipofsky - Legendary Glass Artist

and Glass Art Pioneer

(September 1, 1938 – January 15, 2016)

Marvin Lipofsky (1938-2016) was a glass blowing pioneer and veteran, and we are honored to carry his work in our gallery. Lipofsky was at the forefront of the then-underground international studio glass movement in the late 1960's and early 70's, and is considered one of it's most important founders. He was undeniably one of the most famous glass artists throughout his entire expansive career.

Lipofsky's works are provocative, sensual, fluid, and irresistible to touch (remember your cloth to wipe off fingerprints!). His work has been described as "luscious," and is intensely visually interesting. Over many years Lipofsky travelled repeatedly to various countries to produce his glass sculptures which allowed him to produce pieces under a variety of conditions and in very different situations. Lipofsky was the first American to do a series of glass sculptures in China and Czechoslovakia. Lipofsky's work is in the permanent collection of over 50 major museums in the USA, Europe and Asia.
