Applebaum has been called "one of the great colorists in the field of glass". "Applebaum's sculptures are in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY; Ajeto Glass Museum, Novy Bor, Czech Republic and many other public and private collections.
